The Northern Operations consist of Durkin North (to be accessed via the Otter Juan mine) and Long. This operation hosts two of the largest Nickel Sulphide Mines in the Kambalda / Widgiemooltha region, with historical ore production from Otter Juan and Long totalling 23.0Mt of ore at 3.6% Ni for 818,000t of contained nickel.
The Durkin North orebody is an unmined nickel deposit located beneath and to the north of the historical Durkin mine workings, part of the Otter Juan mine. The area of focus for Long is an unmined area located to the northern deeps end of the Long mine. At their closest point in the upper levels, the Long and Otter Juan mines are approximately 900m apart horizontally.
The mine plan outlined in the March 2020 DFS involves underground extraction of the Durkin North and Long deposits, accessing the orebodies through the existing Otter Juan and Long workings mining 0.8Mt of ore at an average nickel grade of 2.5%.
